Privacy Policy

Eat Mac & Cheese helps parents find kid-friendly restaurants. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

Information you give us

• Account info:your email address and name when you sign up with email, or your name, email, and profile photo from Google when you choose “Continue with Google.”
• Kid profiles (optional):a nickname, age, and emoji you add for your kids so we can tailor recommendations. We don’t need real names, and you can skip this entirely.
• Content you post: reviews, ratings, photos, saved restaurants, restaurant submissions, and closure reports.
• Messages: anything you send us by email or through the site.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we collect basic technical data such as browser type, device type, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use Google Analytics for this, and cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences.

How we use it

• To run your account and show your reviews and saved places.
• To recommend restaurants that fit your family.
• To keep the site safe, prevent spam, and fix problems.
• To understand which features are useful and improve them.
• To reply when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted ads.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email address, and profile photo. We use them solely to create and identify your account. We don’t access your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data, and we don’t share Google user data with anyone except the service providers below who help us run the site. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

What’s public

Reviews, ratings, and photos you post are public, along with your display name. Your email address and kid profiles are never shown to other users.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to operate the site, such as hosting (Vercel), database and sign-in (Supabase), and analytics (Google Analytics). They process data only on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Children

This site is for parents and other adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Kid profiles are created and managed by a parent’s account. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices

• Edit or delete your reviews, saved places, and kid profiles at any time.
• Ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing us.
• Block or clear cookies in your browser settings.
• California residents may request access to or deletion of their personal information. We’ll respond within 45 days.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to keep it for legal or security reasons.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know on the site or by email.
